Paula Badosa and Aryna Sabalenka will take on each other in the quarter-finals of the 2023 WTA Stuttgart Open on April 21.
Paula Badosa has been looking for a trophy for a long time now and despite getting a good start to every single tournament she has played in, she has bottled it in the later stages. She will be adamant to make a change in fortune and perform well at the ongoing Stuttgart Open. She couldn’t make it past the first-round mark in both the Dubai Championships and the Qatar Open losing to Samsonova and Haddad Maia respectively. At the Indian Wells Masters, she lost to eventual champion Rybakina in the round of 32 stage, and at the Miami Open, she lost to Rybakina again on the same stage. In the ongoing Stuttgart Open, she beat Kasatkina in the first-round matchup by 1-6, 1-6, and in the round-of-16 matchup, she beat Bucsa by 6-1, 6-2.
Second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka has been in stellar form for the past few months and she will be adamant to perform well in the Stuttgart Open as well. At the Australian Open, she shocked the whole world by lifting the trophy beating players such as Rybakina, Linette, Vekic, Mertens, Bencic, and Rogers. At the Adelaide International 1 tournament, she also won the tournament in fine fashion by overcoming players such as Noskova, Begu, Vondrousova, and Samsonova on the way. At the recent Dubai Tennis Championships, she made it to the quarter-finals where she lost to Krejcikova, and at the recent Indian Wells Masters, she lost against Rybakina in the final.
