Tommy Paul and Leo Borg are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on Monday, October 17.
Tommy Paul won his only trophy last year in Stockholm after going on a surprise run and defeating several notable players. It all started with a win over Leo Borg, and he’ll face him again in the first round. What a coincidence. Last year’s match was relatively easy for the American, who won in two sets, and I expect the same this year. Borg has improved significantly since last year, but so has Paul, who looked quite solid in Gijon last week. Losing in a quarter-final to Andrey Rublev is nothing to be ashamed of. Paul is most effective on hard courts, but he is also quite streaky.Â
Leo Borg is not as good as his father at tennis because he has yet to make a breakthrough at the age of 19. There is still time, but he is unlikely to win as many grand slams as his father did. Nonetheless, with a 32-24 record, he has had a successful year. He went 1-13 last year, so you can see how much of an improvement it is. He hasn’t played a single indoor match this year because he prefers clay, which is very important. It takes time to adjust to these circumstances. He faced Paul in the same Arena last year and did well, so expect the same this time.
Tommy Paul and Leo Borg are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on Monday, October 17. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 17 and end on October 23.
