Diane Parry of France has been one of the WTA Tour’s standout young players. Since her sensational first-round victory over then-reigning champion Barbora Krejcikova at this year’s French Open, Parry’s flamboyant style of tennis has won her many fans. Parry was recently ranked outside the top 300 in the world. However, a remarkable second half of the season in which she won 40 of 54 matches, including her biggest WTA title at the Montevideo 125K, propelled her to World No. 115. And, after beginning 2022 outside the Top 100, Parry has continued her ascent in the WTA’s global rankings, winning 13 tour-level matches and rising to a career-high No. 65.

Viktorija Golubic has had a difficult season, but there was a ray of sunshine at her most recent WTA tournament in Tallinn, Estonia, where she qualified and advanced to the second round. Golubic, who had not won a WTA main draw match since the end of July, stunned American Madison Keys in straight sets at the aforementioned tournament and pushed Karolina Muchova in the subsequent round before losing in three. At the start of the European summer in 2022, the Swiss one-hander achieved her best results. She advanced to her first semifinal of the season in Nottingham, and a month later, she reached her third quarterfinal in Warsaw. Golubic is far from her peak, with a world ranking of 80, but she is still capable of defeating higher-ranked opponents.
