The 2022 ATP Cincinnati Open's first match will feature Holger Rune of Denmark and world number 11 Cameron Norrie of Great Britain.

Norrie has travelled to compete in the Cincinnati Masters three times before, but none of those trips resulted in a main draw victory. At the first two, he was eliminated right away in the qualifying rounds, while in Cameron Norrie‘s final trip, which took place in 2021, he was eliminated right away. He has performed better this year on hard courts, winning 18 and dropping just nine of those matches. This includes a recent appearance in the Los Cabos Open final, which was followed by a third-round performance at the Montreal Open the previous week. Botic van de Zandschulp booked him for a meeting with Felix Auger-Aliassime, who eventually defeated him after he defeated Brandon Nakashima. In his matchup with Rune, a clay court expert, Norrie will be aware of his excellent chances of winning.
The Danish player has only achieved three main draw victories in the seven hard court contests he has participated in this year. Holger Rune won his openers in Washington and Montreal, and two of them came in the last two weeks. However, their wins were against Benoit Paire and Fabio Fognini, two players who were very out of shape, especially on this court. Rune was unable to overcome Pablo Carreno Busta in Montreal and JJ Wolf in Washington. Rune’s situation has been much more challenging as a result of this and his dismal performance since the French Open, where he had advanced to the quarterfinal. Only two of his previous 11 matches have ended in victories for him, a record that won’t in the least terrify his British opponent.
Cameron Norrie and Holger Rune are scheduled to face one another in the Opening round of the 2022 Cincinnati Open on Monday, August 15. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 14 till August 21.
The 2022 Cincinnati Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final for both men’s and women’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 14 and conclude on August 21 this year.
