One of two WTA competitions happening this week is the 2023 Monterrey Open. The dates are February 27 through March 5. The only member of the top 10 who is competing is Caroline Garcia, who is also the group’s top seed. The second seed is 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist Marie Bouzkova, and the third seed is 2023 Australian Open quarterfinalist Donna Vekic. Leylah Fernandez, the two-time defending champion, decided not to compete this time around, and Elise Mertens completes the top four seeds. Given that there are a few WTA 1000 events coming up, the majority of top players have opted to take it easy. Nevertheless, the Monterrey Open this year has a fairly strong field with some well-known players.

The competition held its first iteration in 2009, and since then, it has become a regular stop on the WTA tour. Since it began, this tournament has been categorised as a WTA 250 event. Many top players have travelled here to regain their form. Among the previous winners here are Grand Slam champions Marion Bartoli, Ana Ivanovic, and Garbine Muguruza. The tournament has a 32-player draw and is played on outdoor hardcourts.

Schedule and Dates

The main draw of the tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 27 and conclude on Sunday, March 5. Here is the round-wise schedule of the WTA 250 event.
