Naomi Osaka, who also praised Japanese fans for tidying up their surroundings before leaving the stadium, reacted to Japan’s shocking victory over Germany in their FIFA World Cup debut. The tennis player made light of the Japanese supporters’ meticulous stadium cleaning in a satirical social media post, comparing it to cleaning up a crime scene to get rid of any traces of evidence. Japan will beat you and clean up the whole place, leaving the crime scene with no evidence,” read the post Osaka shared.

After their team’s outstanding 2-1 victory over four-time World Cup champions Germany, Japanese fans were gracious enough to pile the trash into a garbage bag, as Naomi Osaka documented in a subsequent post. Japanese fans remarked that they did not like to leave trash since they respect the environment everywhere they go. We, Japanese, never leave rubbish behind us. We respect the place,” one of the Japanese fan explained.

Poor season for Naomi

Despite having a less-than-impressive season in 2022, Naomi Osaka managed to make a strong impression with her first serve. The four-time Grand Slam winner finished ahead of Qinwen Zheng of China in first-serve points won with a staggering 76.2%. The former World No. 1 can serve at up to 125 miles per hour and first serves at an average speed of about 105 miles per hour.

In 2020, the 25-year-old reigned supreme at Fleming Meadows for the second time after shocking the tennis world at the 2018 US Open when she defeated Serena Williams in the championship match. Before her struggles with mental health issues came to light at the French Open last year, Naomi Osaka also won the Australian Open title in 2019 and 2021. Since then, she has worked hard on improving her form and fitness.
