The first semi-final of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships will see the two veterans battle it out for a spot in the final.
The Championships have been long and hard but finally, we are nearing its final stage. Fans have been witness to some unforgettable tennis action over the course of a little more than a week and now, four remain, four of the best in the world. The first semi-final of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships will see two veterans battle it out for a spot in the final. They are Australia’s Nick Kyrgios and the legend himself, Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard has already won the Australian Open and French Open, and the grass court Grand Slam would make 2022 one of the best years of his illustrious career. Against Taylor Fritz in the quarter-final, Nadal played out a thriller which saw five sets, the last of which went to a tie-break. The score at the end of it all was 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (10-4).
Nick Kyrgios has always been one who has gotten into trouble on the biggest stages and this year’s Wimbledon has been no exception. After allegedly taunting Stefanos Tsitsipas in their round of 16 tie, the Aussie was charged with a fine, his second of the tournament so far. However, his skills with the tennis racquet are serious. Kyrgios played Cristian Garin in the quarter-final of the competition and recorded a comfortable 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win.
Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios are scheduled to face each other on Friday, July 8 in the quarter-final round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There will be another semi final on July 8 and who will play that final is on Sunday, July 10.
