In the second round of the 2022 Wimbledon American John Isner, the 20th seed, taking on British Andy Murray.
June 29, the second round of the 2022 Wimbledon will begin with American John Isner, the 20th seed, taking on British Andy Murray. They faced off eight times, and Murray never dropped a game. To advance to the Wimbledon round two, John Isner had to put up a strong fight. The 37-year-old found Enzo Couacaud to be a very challenging opponent, needing 5 sets to win the 3-hour match. Isner shouldn’t play such protracted matches, but it’s worth it to get to Wimbledon’s second round. Andy Murray dropped the first set against James Duckworth because he had trouble serving. He mainly won the match against an outmatched opponent after locating his serve.
The last time these two met was in 2016, and it’s been a long time. Both have altered significantly, but I believe the zero next to Isner’s name in this H2H will remain unchanged. The American is solid, but he has a formidable opponent in Murray. The Brit can sprint, he can defend effectively by returning many balls, and his return is adequate. If Isner needs five points to advance in round one, this appears to be an insurmountable task for him.
Murray vs Isner are scheduled to face each other on Wednesday, June 29 in the second round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches in the first round as the likes of Djokovic, Alcaraz, Murray, Shapovalov and others were in action.
