American Taylor Fritz will face Alex Molcan of Slovakia, the world number 51, in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championship.
Taylor Fritz of the United States will face Alex Molcan of Slovakia, the world number 51, in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championship on Saturday, July 2. They’ve never played against one other before. This is the first meeting between the two 24-year-olds. Fritz has now matched his previous year’s achievement of reaching the third round at Wimbledon. He has failed to advance farther in any Grand Slam event. However, the American, who won Eastbourne last week, is yet to experience any hiccups.
Molcan, who considers himself mostly a clay court specialist, has never even qualified for the main competition at Wimbledon until this year. But the Slovak, who had to come from behind to upset Pedro Martinez of Spain in the opening round, cruised through Fritz’s compatriot, Marcos Giron, on Thursday. Fritz is in a great run of form on grass right now, having won Eastbourne last week. Molcan, who has never before played in the main draw at Wimbledon, has done well to reach this far, but the American will start as the clear frontrunner.
Taylor Fritz v Alex Molcan are scheduled to face each other on Saturday, July 2 in the Third round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches in the first round as the likes of Djokovic, Alcaraz, Murray, Shapovalov and others were in action.
