Spanish tennis junior Martin Landaluce picked up a shock victory over top seed Daniel Vallejo on Friday to reach the final of the 2022 US Open juniors in the boys’ singles category. The score at the end of the match was 6-3, 6-3 in the fifth seed’s favour as he went on to display a dominant performance. Landaluce will be up against second seed Gilles Arnaud Bailly in the final of the junior Grand Slam competition. The Belgian had to go through Chak Lam Coleman Wong in the semi-final stage on Friday and he won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. It was an impressive comeback victory for the second seed who demonstrated a lot of grit and heart to win the match after going a set down. Due to his higher ranking and exceptional semi-final display, Bailly is the favourite to lift the title at the Flushing Meadows this year.
Gilles Arnaud Bailly and Martin Landaluce are scheduled to face each other on Saturday, September 10 in the final of the 2022 US Open juniors. The fourth and final Grand Slam of the season began on August 29 and will go on until September 11.
