Nick Kyrgios and Chun Hsin Tseng will take on each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Japan Open on Tuesday, October 4.
At the US Open last month, Nick Kyrgios displayed outstanding tennis, and after defeating reigning champion Daniil Medvedev in the round of 16, he became the betting favourite to win the tournament. Unfortunately, he could not win another match there since he was injured in a five-set setback at the hands of Karen Khachanov (in QF). The brilliant Australian was driven and generated consistent play and results in every tournament he participated this year. As a result, he has lately reentered the top 20 and has climbed almost 90 places in the ATP rankings in the last ten months.
In Seoul last week, Chun Hsin Tseng had a great chance to advance to his first quarterfinal appearance on the main tour, but he squandered it by losing to fortunate loser Aleksandar Kovacevic in the second round. His second set comeback was outstanding, and he carried that momentum into the decider, but he could only win two games in the third set. The talented 21-year-old needed six tries to establish himself in the main draw of tournaments at the tour level, but he has done well to advance past Nick Chappell in Los Cabos 2022, Marton Fucsovics in Winston Salem 2022, and Christopher O’Connell (AUS) in Seoul last week in three of his last four first-round matches at this level.
Nick Kyrgios and Chun Hsin Tseng are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Japan Open on Tuesday, October 4. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 3 and end on October 9.
