The 2022 season has turned out to be an incredible comeback season for Nick Kyrgios who will now shift his attention to the 2022 Canadian Open. Kyrgios recorded his best ever performance at Wimbledon earlier this year when he went all the way to the final but just fell short against top seed Novak Djokovic. After that, the Aussie participated in the 2022 Citi Open and went that one step further to win the crown. He beat Japanese tennis player Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4, 6-3 to etch his name on the trophy and he will be hoping to achieve a similar feat in Canada.
Kyrgios’ first match will be against Argentinian tennis player Sebastian Baez. Despite not being consistent so far this season, Baez has displayed some incredible performances, the latest one coming in the Swedish Open earlier this month when he went all the way to the final. The Argentinian delivered an exceptional performance in the Estoril Open earlier this year as well, beating a much higher ranked Frances Tiafoe in the final to secure the prize.
Nick Kyrgios and Sebastian Baez are scheduled to face one another in the round of 64 of the 2022 Canadian Open on Tuesday, August 9. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 8 till August 15.
