South Korean tennis player Soonwoo Kwon has been in exceptional form in the 2022 Japan Open as he finds himself in the last four of the ATP 500 tournament. Kwon has picked up some highly impressive victories en route to the last four, including a shock win over sixth seed Alex de Minaur 6-3, 6-2 in the very first round. The South Korean defeated Spain’s Pedro Martinez in the quarter-final 6-3, 6-0 which saw him convert five out of seven break points and score three aces. Kwon will face an in-form Frances Tiafoe in the last four, which will be a tough test for the South Korean.
Tiafoe is on his career best run at the Japan Open as he cruised past Miomir Kecmanovic 6-0, 6-4 to make it into the semi-finals. The fourth seed acknowledged that he was in good form in the match, stating that he made it difficult for his opponent. “I was moving really well, I hit the ball well from the back of the court. I made it really tough for Miomir today. He played some great tennis. I was lucky enough to get it done in straight sets. Performances like this are big,” the American said after winning the match.
