Sebastian Korda and Marcos Giron are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP European Open on October 17.
Sebastian Korda took just one match of the 2021 season to reach the final in Delray Beach, and he won his first ATP championship in Parma a few months later. However, it took him ten months to make his debut in a championship match this year. Throughout the 2022 season, the former world #30 lacked confidence, and the injury he sustained during the grass season did not help matters either. Despite this, he has performed admirably this year against top-10 competitors, winning one of three matches and defeating Rafael Nadal in one of those defeats at the Indian Wells Masters.
Marcos Giron’s 2022 statistics (20/27) might be a little misleading because he is now having a much stronger season than they indicate. In the first half of the season, he achieved three quarterfinal (or better) finishes. He also recorded some notable victories over players like Diego Schwartzman, Taylor Fritz, and Pablo Carreno Busta. Most recently, he came in second place in San Diego, which was his best performance on the main tour. Given his recent success on indoor hard courts, the American has a chance to pick up some victories and raise his season win-loss record over the coming few weeks. He reached the semifinals and won at least ten matches on the surface each of the previous three seasons.
Sebastian Korda and Marcos Giron are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP European Open on Monday, October 17. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 17 and end on October 23.
The ATP European Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 17, 2022 and conclude on October 23, 2022.
