Top seed and world no. 2 Anett Kontaveit will kick off her 2022 WTA Tallinn Open against unseeded Chinese player Wang Xiyu. The Estonian’s 2022 US Open earlier this month campaign was cut short in the second round where she was beaten by the great Serena Williams 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-2. Kontaveit will be looking for some good form in her home WTA competition and she is the favourite for the title. With home support backing the highest ranked Estonian player of all time, beating her will take a gigantic effort by anyone, given that she maintains her form.

Wang Xiyu shocked the world in the second round of the US Open when she beat third seed Maria Sakkari 3-6, 7-5, 7-5. Although she was eliminated in the very next round, the Chinese will have a lot of confidence heading into the WTA competition at Tallinn and she will be hoping to break Estonian hearts to record yet another massive shocker against Kontaveit.

Anett Kontaveit and Wang Xiyu are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 Tallinn Open on Tuesday, September 27. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 19 and end on October 2.

The 2022 Tallinn Open is scheduled to commence on September 26 and go on until October 2 this year. The tournament will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
