In Sunday's final of the 2022 WTA Silicon Valley Classic, world number 12 Daria Kasatkina will compete against Shelby Rogers of the United States, who is ranked 45th.

The fourth-ranked player in the world Paula Badosa entered her semifinal match as a 4/6 favourite, and to make matters worse, she had just eliminated Cori Gauff with extraordinary composure in the previous round. All of that didn’t seem to bother Daria Kasatkina as she defeated Badosa in straight sets to advance to the finals and face Rogers. Kasatkina raced to a 6-2, 6-4 triumph in an hour and 23 minute match after her opponent hardly put her to the test. In fact, Badosa would have lost track of the opening set after her opponent only dropped four points on her serve. Badosa battled back with a break of serve in the second set, gaining a 2-0 lead, but back-to-back breaks for Kasatkina were enough to win the match.
Ranking 45th in the world at the beginning of the week was Shelby Rogers. After four victories, she has climbed into the top 30 of the WTA Rankings and might move much higher with a win in the championship match. Not only has Rogers won four straight games, but the opposition and the style of triumphs have also been favorable. Her first victim was Bianca Andreescu, and she then eliminated the top-seeded Maria Sakkari in the second round. Rogers destroyed Amanda Anisimova, who had been in excellent form for some time, before defeating Veronika Kudermetova in the quarterfinal. The eight games that Anisimova won were the most she has ever given up in a match throughout the event, and all of these victories came in straight sets as well.
Daria Kasatkina and Shelby Rogers will face each other in the final round of the 2022 WTA Silicon Valley Classic on Sunday, August 7. The WTA 500 competition is scheduled to start from August 1 and end on August 7 this year.
