Seventh seed Daria Kasatkina advanced to the round of 16 of the WTA Guadalajara Open on Wednesday after recording a 6-1, 6-2 win over Zhu Lin in the last 32. Kasatkina returned six out of 11 break points in the match to seal what was a rather comfortable victory. With the WTA Finals only a month away, the Russian is still in the hunt for a place in the competition. However, the pressure of qualification is something that has been constantly on her mind. “As much as I was trying to push away the thought of the Finals, to trick myself, I cannot. I just have to accept this pressure and face it the way I can,” she said to WTA Insider.

Compatriot Anna Kalinskaya was up against Elise Mertens in the round of 32 in Guadalajara on Wednesday and she came out with a fine 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 win. Despite committing 10 double faults, the Russian’s three aces and four out of eight break point returns were enough to see her over the line for a place in the last 16.
