Despite a disappointing performance at Roland Garros last month, Halep has been performing consistently in grass competitions.
Romanian tennis veteran Simona Halep’s first match at the 2022 Wimbledon will be against Karolina Muchuova. Despite a disappointing performance at Roland Garros last month, Halep has been performing consistently in grass competitions. In Paris, she was ousted in the second round by Qinwen Zheng. However, the Romanian showed her class at the Birmingham Classic where she reached the semis and was beaten by an in-form Beatriz Haddad-Maia. She made it to the semis of the Bad Homburg Open as well but had to withdraw due to an injury.
Karolina Muchova has not had the best of seasons either so far. She had a decent showing at the French Open where she had to withdraw in the third round against Amanda Anisimova. Returning from an injury, the Czech competed in the Berlin Open but was beaten in the round of 32 by top seed Ons Jabeur.
Halep and Muchuova are scheduled to face each other on Tuesday, June 28 in the first round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There are a number of exciting matches on the second day of the first round as the likes of Swiatek, Badosa, Williams, Gauff, Krejcikova and others will be in action.
