Leading up to The Championships, Haddad-Maia participated in three grass court competitions and won two.
Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad-Maia perhaps was not one to look out for at The Championships a month ago but her performances in June across all competitions have been highly impressive. Leading up to The Championships, Haddad-Maia participated in three grass court competitions and won two. At the Nottingham Open, she beat US’ Alison Riske in the final and she was also victorious in the Birmingham Classic after Zhang Shuai retired from the final due to injury. Haddad-Maia also won the doubles event in Nottingham with Shuai. Seeded 23rd at Wimbledon, the Brazilian will be looking to make a lasting impact.
Her first opponent at The Championships will be Slovenian tennis player Kaja Juvan. On paper, it should be a simple victory for Haddad-Maia. Juvan participated in the Bad Homburg Open and Birmingham Classic leading up to The Championships. She was ousted in the round of 32 at Birmingham by US tennis player Lauren Davis. At the Bad Homburg Open, she had to withdraw from her round of 32 match against Lucia Bronzetti.
Haddad-Maia and Juvan are scheduled to face each other on Monday, June 27 in the first round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There are a number of exciting matches on opening day as the likes of Swiatek, Badosa, Sakkari, Raducanu, Halep and others will be in action.
