No. 11 seed Coco Gauff of the United States will face No. 20 seed Amanda Anisimova of Russia in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon.
On Saturday, July 2, No. 11 seed Coco Gauff of the United States will face No. 20 seed Amanda Anisimova of Russia in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon. Last year, Gauff won their lone previous encounter in Parma. Coco Gauff has advanced to the third round at Wimbledon after two straight wins over Romanian opponents. The 18-year-old American is currently one victory away from making his third fourth-round appearance in three tries. Gauff will seek to maintain his momentum after a much improved performance in the second round, but he will face a challenging opponent in Anisimova in the third round.
No. 20 seed Amanda Anisimova battled back to overcome Lauren Davis in the second round on Thursday after being outplayed in the opening set. The Bad Homburg quarterfinalist is a competent grass player who will face a tough third round match. Although this is expected to be a competitive match, Gauff’s track record at Wimbledon suggests she will do better. She is also in fantastic shape and will be aiming for a hat-trick of fourth-round appearances at Wimbledon.
Coco Gauff v Amanda Anisimova are scheduled to face each other on Saturday, July 2 in the third round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 2 as the likes of Swiatek, Badosa, Krejcikova and others will be in action.
