Netherlands' 21st seed Botic van de Zandschulp will face France's Richard Gasquet in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon.
On Saturday, July 2, the Netherlands’ 21st seed Botic van de Zandschulp will face France’s Richard Gasquet in the third round of the 2022 Wimbledon. They met once before, in the Australian Open this year, when Gasquet retired with a 1-1 tie. Botic van de Zandschulp’s grass preparation wasn’t fantastic, but he’s been playing well at Wimbledon. A nice win in round one and an even better triumph in round two qualified him for the third round. So far, the team has a 24-16 record and a 5-3 record on grass.
Richard Gasquet has played in two Wimbledon semifinals and has always been a decent player on this surface. He’s no longer at that level owing to his age, but the Frenchman has come a long way this year. The victory against Sousa was beneficial since it sapped his vitality. Gasquet has been outstanding this season, as has Botic. The Dutch player objectively demonstrated more, and his level has been more consistent. He has also defeated more difficult opponents, and his confidence will serve him well here.
Botic van de Zandschulp v Richard Gasquet are scheduled to face each other on Saturday, July 2 in the Third round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches in the first round as the likes of Djokovic, Alcaraz, Murray, Shapovalov and others were in action.
