Caroline Garcia and Anna Kalinskaya are scheduled to face one another in a second round match of the US Open 2022 on Wednesday, August 31.
Form is a beautiful thing, and Garcia is reaping the benefits of it, of that rhythm. Caroline Garcia, who arrived at the US Open on the heels of eight consecutive victories, including two qualifying victories in Cincinnati, wasted no time in dispatching Kamilla Rakhimova in straight sets in her opener. Garcia needed an hour and 22 minutes to defeat her Russian opponent and advance to the second round of the US Open for the third time in a row. The Frenchwoman was unyielding, breaking her opponent twice in the first set and refusing to be intimidated by her opponent’s stodginess in the second set.
Anna Kalinskaya, who reached the quarterfinals of the Washington Open before qualifying for the Cincinnati Open, where she advanced to the second round, entered her US Open opener against Rebecca Peterson ranked 60th in her career. Kalinskaya was also a 9/20 favourite, which she lived up to by defeating her Swedish opponent in straight sets. Kalinskaya won 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 17 minutes, barely breaking sweat as she advanced to the second round against Garcia. The Russian faced only one break-point in the entire match and easily saved it, while also breaking Peterson three times – once in the first and twice in the second.
Caroline Garcia and Anna Kalinskaya are scheduled to face one another in a second round match of the US Open 2022 on Wednesday, August 31. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.
