With two Grand Slam titles to her name and consistent performances year in year out, Garbine Muguruza is one of those players that simply does not quit no matter how difficult things might get. The Spaniard has emerged victorious in Roland Garros and the Wimbledon Championships, and has won a total of 10 singles titles as of August 2022 in her career. She achieved her best career ranking of first in September 2017, the same year that saw her win the grass court Grand Slam. Muguruza is a prolific doubles player as well, winning five titles in the category and achieving a career high ranking of tenth. A veteran of the sport, Muguruza turned professional in 2012 and two years later, found herself with her maiden WTA singles title.

Muguruza, seeded 14th at the 2017 Wimbledon Championships, defeated Yanina Wickmayer, Sorana Cîrstea, and Ekaterina Alexandrova to go to the fourth round. She next played world No. 1 and last year’s runner-up Angelique Kerber, defeating her in three sets. She then won in straight sets over the seventh-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova and the 87th-ranked Magdalena Rybarikova to reach her second Wimbledon final. She won her second major title there and became the first player to ever defeat both Williams sisters in a major singles final when she defeated the 10th seed Venus Williams in straight sets.
