Novak Djokovic made it to the semis of the French Open. As it has been for a long time, at least one of the Big Three always makes it to the semi-finals. Berrettini fought back hard to win the 3rd set. However, the Serb was relentless and won the match 6-3, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 to enter the semi-finals. He will now face Rafael Nadal.
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and No. 3 Rafael Nadal will fight it out on Friday.
No. 3 Nadal out-lasted No. 10 Diego Schwartzman in four sets in one quarterfinal, while No. 1 Djokovic fought No. 10 Matteo Berrettini in a four-set match.
“Djokovic is one of the best players ever,” Nadal told reporters. “We know each other well and anything can happen when you face him.”
The winner will meet the survivor between No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas and No. 6 Sascha Zverev in Sunday’s Roland Garros final.
Rafael Nadal battled through to a record-extending 14th Roland Garros semifinal, beating Diego Schwartzman in four sets on Wednesday. The 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory over the Argentine 10th seed saw his 36-set winning streak end on Parisian clay. Nadal, who is bidding to capture a record 21st major crown, required two hours and 45 minutes on Court Philippe-Chatrier to see out the match. After easing his way to victory in the first set, he lost the final three games of the second set before regrouping himself to win the match in front of 5,000 spectators.
The Argentinian refocused and fought back impressively. He started in blistering fashion, winning 12 of the first 16 points in the second set to take a 3-0 lead. But he could not hold on to the advantage for long as Nadal recovered to 3-3. The roller-coast set took another turn when Schwartzman won the final three games to bag the 47-minute set.
