French Open 2021: Sumit Nagal crashes out after Ankita Raina & Ramanathan

French Open 2021: Sumit Nagal lost two straight sets to Tabilo in a late evening match in Paris. Nagal upped his game and managed to a mini-comeback. However, in his second set, he had a 3-1 advantage but soon lost it. Nagal was knocked out of Round 2. l. Alejandro Tabilo (166) defeated Sumit Nagal(143) 3-6 3-6.

The country’s No 1 Sumit Nagal was the last Indian singles player in Roland Garros after Ankita Raina and Ramanathan both crashed out. This match, though nailbiting was lost by Nagal, pushing the whole Indian contingent out of the French Open.

French Open 2021: Greet Minnen thrashES Ankita Raina

The other Indians in the match also lost to their competitors. Greet Minnen of Belgium defeated India’s Ankita Raina in straight sets in the second qualifier match of Roland Garros 2021.

Ankita’s game started with a lot of confidence. She won her first game. However, Greet came back strong and won the next four games.

Ankita could only manage to win one more game in the set and lost 6-2. In the second set 17th, seed Minnen was on top of her game. she won the set 6-0. This match of the second round knocked Raina out of the French Open, crashing India’s hopes in the women’s category.

Ramkumar Ramanathan knocked out

Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin defeated India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-1,6-2 in the second qualifier of the French Open 2021.

Ramkumar’s fate was also very similar to Ankita’s. He also won the first game of the first set but that after that Denis won 6 games to win the set. However, Ramanathan’s attempt in the set was also while in the second set was also of no use to him. Denis dropped just two games.

Earlier, Ramkumar Ramanathan opened his campaign against American Michael Mmoh. He won the match 7-6, 6-3 after losing the opening set 2-6.
