Day 2 of the 2022 Davis Cup group stage will see a heavyweight clash between France and Germany. The French team is seeded third in the competition and with the likes of Benjamin Bonzi, Adrian Mannarino, Arthur Rinderknech and Nicolas Mahut in their ranks, they have a fair chance of going all the way. They have played in the competition for 102 years, making them one of the oldest nations to take part in the competition. In that time, the French have lifted the title ten times, the most recent triumph coming in 2017. They have also finished as runners up nine times, including once just four years ago in 2018.
Although Germany is seeded lower than France, they have a strong team in their own right. Germany have been playing in the Davis Cup for 86 years and have won the tournament three times. However, their last triumph came 29 years ago in 1993.
Germany and France are set to face each other in a Group C match on Wednesday, September 14 in the 2022 Davis Cup. The group stage of the competition is scheduled to begin on September 13 and conclude on September 18 this year.
