Australia's Alex di Minaur faced Belgian David Goffin next and picked up a straightforward 6-2, 6-2 victory.
After taking a flawless victory against Belgium, Australia currently sit atop the Group C table and will now prepare to take on France in what can be a tricky encounter. However, the men from down under displayed a solid performance on Tuesday as they beat the Belgians 3-0. Jason Kubler was the first to take the court for the Aussies against Zizou Bergs and won 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Alex di Minaur faced David Goffin next and picked up a straightforward 6-2, 6-2 victory. The day ended with doubles action as the team of Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell beat Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 6-1, 6-3.
Things did not go as per plan for France as they could only win one out of three matches against Germany on Wednesday. The team currently sits in third place on the group C table and will be hoping to bring about a change when they play next. Adrian Mannarino was the only one who won his match against Germany’s Oscar Otte while Benjamin Bonzi and the team of Nicolas Mahut and Arthur Rinderknech fell to defeat.
Australia and France are set to face each other in a Group C match on Thursday, September 15 in the 2022 Davis Cup. The group stage of the competition is scheduled to begin on September 13 and conclude on September 18 this year.
