This season, Nao Hibino competed in a variety of professional tournaments with varying degrees of success. It includes things like winning a quarterfinal match against Barbora Krejcikova and Mihaela Buzarnescu in Prague as a lucky loser, as well as making it all the way to the W25 Chiang Rai finals in Thailand in June. The Japanese player has reportedly been dealing with injuries lately. Before returning to the court at Flushing Meadows and suffering defeat to up-and-coming 20-year-old Daria Snigur in the third qualifying round, she was forced to retire from back-to-back competitions in Prague and 125K Vancouver.
