British tennis player Jack Draper shocked the world on Thursday when he beat third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the round of 32 of the 2022 Canadian Open. Draper, who is unseeded in the competition at Montreal, recorded a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) victory over the Greek. It was the Brit’s maiden top 10 win in his career. “This is why I put in all the hard work, for nights like this on stages like this,” the 20-year-old qualifier said. “Last week [after] Washington, me and my coach probably were thinking we weren’t even going to come here. We were going to maybe train a week, get a bit of confidence. But it paid off coming.”

Draper will be up against 17th seed Gael Monfils in the round of 16. The Frenchman was involved in a titanic battle against Maxime Cressy in his second round match. The score at the end of the contest was 7-6 (12-10), 7-6 (8-6). Monfils hit four aces in the match and converted one out of three break points.

Jack Draper and Gael Monfils are scheduled to face one another in the round of 16 of the 2022 Canadian Open on Friday, August 12. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 8 till August 15.

2022 Canadian Open Schedule

The 2022 edition of the Canadian Open is set to begin from August 8 and go on until August 15. The men’s final is scheduled to be on August 15 and the women’s one is set to be held on August 14. There will be six rounds of play in the main draw excluding the qualifiers.
