De Minaur found out the hard way that facing Jack Draper on grass at Wimbledon was not as easy task.
The second round of 2022 Wimbledon will feature a match between Liam Broady of Great Britain and Alex de Minaur, the 19th seed from Australia. De Minaur found out the hard way that facing Jack Draper on grass at Wimbledon was not as easy task, as the British player took the first set. It was a proper battle from then on, but Draper couldn’t keep up with the speed of De Minaur who was just running around the court. While the 6-1, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Dellien was relatively easy, the World No. 27 had to come back from a set down to win 5-7, 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-3 in over three hours.
Meanwhile, Liam Broady has also been having a spectacular year, winning back to back grueling five-setter matches against 12th seed Diego Schwartzman and Lukas Klein to get to the third round of a Grand slam for the first time ever. The 132nd-ranked player in the world persevered for nearly four hours before defeating Schwartzman 6-2, 4-6, 0-6, 7-6(6), 6-1. De Mianur and Broady have faced each other last year at Eastbourne. The Aussie emerged victorious on that occassion.
De Minaur and Broady are scheduled to face each other on Saturday, July 2 in the third round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 2 as the likes of Nadal, Tsitsipas, Kyrgios and others will be in action.
