On Monday Sebastian Korda of America will face Taro Daniel of Japan in the first round of 2022 Atlanta open.
Sebastian Korda was shocked by Pablo Carreno Busta in three sets in Halle and by John Millman in straight sets in Eastbourne last month in back-to-back games on grass. He then withdrew from Wimbledon for to fitness concerns. After taking a short break, the gifted American teenager is back in the ring in Atlanta, where he will make his professional debut. Throughout the second half of the 2021 season, he struggled to have an effect in American hardcourt competitions (3-5), and he hopes to do better this time around. It was just sad that he could not achieve a significant outcome throughout these seven months despite putting forth a few excellent efforts this year as the former Boys’ Australian Open champion. In 2022, he defeated Carlos Alcaraz to become the first player outside the top-10 to do it. He had chances to serve for the match against eventual champion Cameron Norrie in Delray Beach and eventual runner-up Rafael Nadal in Indian Wells.
Over the weekend, Taro Daniel made his ATP Atlanta debut. To earn a spot in the main event, he defeated Adrian Mannarino and Ricardas Berankis in straight sets. The 29-year-old Japanese player had a strong first few months of the 2022 season, and it paid off with some impressive performances, including a qualifying round appearance at the Australian Open, a round of 16 in Dubai, and a quarterfinal appearance in Belgrade (as a qualifier). He is currently vying for his first main-draw victory in a tour-level event since April because his performance hasn’t been at the same level in recent months.
Taro Daniel and Sebastian Korda will take on each other on Monday July 25 in the first round of the 2022 Atlanta open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 25 and conclude on July 31 this year.
