Despite having a fairly strong team on paper, Argentina got off to a disastrous start as they lost 2-1 to Sweden in the first round.
After a tough loss to Italy in the first match, Croatia bounced back in the 2022 Davis Cup Finals with a 2-1 win over Sweden on Thursday. Borna Gojo commenced proceedings on the day against Elias Ymer but failed to take the win as the Swede recorded a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) victory. A match down, Croatia were perhaps staring at another defeat that would effectively put them out of the competition. However, Borna Coric rose to the occasion against Mikael Ymer and took a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory. The doubles team of Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic brushed off the disappointment of the first match to win Elias and Mikael by a score of 7-5, 6-3.
