Maxime Cressy and Sebastian Korda will take on each other in the second round of the 2022 ATP Tel Aviv Open September 28.
After losing in two finals last year, Maxime Cressy finally broke his ATP tour duck by winning the Hall of Fame Open on grass in Newport Beach in July. He would have hoped for a good run during the American hard court season, but it wasn’t until Winston Salem, where he reached the quarter-finals, that he got the results he had hoped for. What was not on the agenda, however, was what happened to him in his first-round match against Marton Fucsovics of Hungary at the US Open. They were tied at one set apiece, but Cressy was two breaks down in the third when he had to retire injured.
Sebastian Korda has played more recently than Cressy, reaching the second round in New York and the Moselle Open quarterfinals last week. He was drawn in the first round against a Turkish qualifier, Cem Ilkel, who is ranked 338th in the world, and the American started strong, breaking serve in the first game. Ilkel kept him honest by breaking back, but Korda upped his game, broke again, and then served out for the set. The second set was dominated by serve until Korda broke again. A breakpoint gave the Turk a brief chance to stay in the match, but he couldn’t convert, and the American cruised to victory.
Maxime Cressy and Sebastian Korda will take on each other in the second round of the 2022 ATP Tel Aviv Open on Wednesday, September 28. The tournament has been scheduled to begin on Monday, September 26 and conclude on Sunday, October 2 this year.
