On August 21 in Cleveland, Ohio, the second edition of the Tennis in the Land competition will begin with Barbora Krejcikova as top seed.
Cleveland, Ohio hosts the WTA 250 competition Tennis in the Land. In 2021, Daria Kasatkina and Anett Kontaveit were the top two seeds as the competition got underway. The Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby, which takes place the same week as this tournament, is the second of the final two women’s warm-up events for the US Open. No top-10 players will compete in Cleveland, but the women’s singles competition does feature a few well-known stars. The location of the WTA 250 contest is Cleveland, Ohio’s Jacobs Pavilion.
In this season’s Tennis in the Land competition, reigning French Open winner Barbora Krejcikova is seeded first, followed by World No. 26 Martina Trevisan. In Cleveland, competitors include Ekaterina Alexandrova, Elise Mertens, Caroline Garcia, and Alize Cornet. After having a difficult few months due to an elbow injury, Krejcikova will be eager to win her first singles title this year. The Czech has a decent chance of succeeding, although players like Alexandrova, Garcia, Mertens, and Cornet can also contend for the championship.
The 2022 Cleveland Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final women’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 21 and conclude on August 27 this year.
