Carlos Alcaraz and Facundo Bagnis will take on each other in the round of 64 matchup of the 2023 Miami Open on March 25.
Top seed Carlos Alcaraz has been the star kid that has got the whole world talking and he will be even more confident at the Miami Open after his recent win at the Indian Wells Masters where he beat Medvedev in the finals. At the Swiss Indoors, he made it to the semi-finals losing to Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, and at the Paris Masters, he had to withdraw from the match against Rune when the latter was winning that match 3-6, 6-6. He was a huge success at the US Open after which he took a month’s gap from tennis. He beat Ruud in the final in what was a four-set thriller for the fans. In the Rio Open, he again made it to the finals but this time lost the title despite winning the first set of the match to Cameron Norrie who took revenge for his defeat in Argentina.
Facundo Bagnis hasn’t been in good touch lately and has been losing all the recent tournaments he has played in. He will be desperate to make a change in fortune and perform well at the ongoing Miami Open. He couldn’t make it past the first stage mark in any of his last tournaments, losing to Cecchinato at the Cordoba Open, and to Dan Evans at the Australian Open. At the Ambata Challenger, he made it to the finals losing to Reis Da Silva after an impressive start to the competition beating the likes of Tirante, Rodriguez Taverna, Huertas Del Pino, and Milojevic. In the ongoing Miami Open, he beat Alves in the first round by 3-6, 6-1, 4-6.
