Although they are seeded last, the east Asian team is more than capable of disrupting the momentum of some of the bigger challengers.
Sixth-seeded Canada will take on 16th seeded South Korea in the opening Group B fixture of the 2022 Davis Cup. Despite not having its star player Felix Auger-Aliassime, the Canadian team boasts a strong lineup. The likes of Vasek Pospisil and Alexis Galarneau are in the six-man team that will be hoping to earn a place in the last eight at the end of all the group stage action. The Canadians will be expectant of improvement from last year where they could not win a single match in the group stage and ended plum last.
For South Korea, the Davis Cup group stage is a territory they will be entering after quite a while. Although they are seeded last, the east Asian team is more than capable of disrupting the momentum of some of the bigger challengers. With Soonwoo Kwon, Seongchang Hong, JiSung Nam and MinKyu Song among their ranks, the South Koreans will be hoping for a decent display.
Canada and South Korea are set to face each other in a Group A match on Tuesday, September 13 in the 2022 Davis Cup at 13:30 Indian Standard Time (IST). The group stage of the competition is scheduled to begin on September 13 and conclude on September 18 this year.
