Alexander Bublik and Cristian Garin will take on each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Tuesday, October 11.
Last year in front of his home crowd in Astana, Alexander Bublik was one set away from winning the tournament. However, this year, after defeating Tallon Griekspoor in three sets in the first round and falling to Hubert Hurkacz in the second, he was only able to get as far as the second round. With the Davis Cup matches excluded, the big-serving Kazakh has had his best year on indoor hard courts so far in 2022, winning 10 victories against just three setbacks. His best performances were taking home his first ATP title in Montpellier and coming in second place in Metz last month.
The former world number one and eventual champion Novak Djokovic humiliated Cristian Garin in a straight-set loss last week in Astana, where he played on indoor hard courts for the first time this year. The five-time ATP champion and former world number one from Chile has a losing w/l record of 4/9 on indoor hard courts and hasn’t won a match there since defeating Stan Wawrinka in the opening round of the ATP Vienna in 2020.
Alexander Bublik and Cristian Garin are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Tuesday, October 11. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 10 and end on October 16.
The ATP Firenze Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 10, 2022 and conclude on October 16, 2022.
