Bianca Andreescu recently suffered her worst ranking loss in more than four years. The former US Open champion began the year by reaching the second round in Adelaide. However, despite having a match point in the tiebreaker, she was shocked by world No. 100 Cristina Bucsa in the second round of the Australian Open, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. Since returning from her six-month break in April, the 22-year-old has struggled to dominate the tour, only making it to two quarterfinals (Rome and Bad Hamburg). Despite this, she has only lost to Shelby Rogers in San Jose in August after surviving the opening round challenges in 13 of her 14 tournaments during this time.
In the 2023 season so far, Harriet Dart has a record of 1-3. She lost to Paula Badosa in the United Cup final by scores of 6-7, 7-6, and 6-1, and she was defeated by Jil Teichmann in the opening round of the Australian Open. Since the conclusion of the grass court swing in the previous year, the Brit has lost either in the first or second round of every tournament. In fact, it was Indian Wells in March when she last won two straight matches at a competition outside of her home country. Since beating players like Elina Svitolina and Kaia Kanepi to reach the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open as a qualifier in the Californian desert, she has undeniably lost a lot of steam.
