The 25-year-old Swiss player Belinda Bencic has had a great start to her season in North America as she seeks to maintain her momentum before the US Open. With three late-stage appearances in her six New York outings, this is also her strongest Grand Slam. She competed in the Canadian Open last week and advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Beatriz Haddad Maia, a rising Brazilian star, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. The number 12 seed, however, defeated a few well-known women en route to the elite eight, including Tereza Martincova, Serena Williams, and Garbine Muguruza, all in straight sets. Given her recent form, there is no reason Bencic cannot repeat her quarterfinal performance from the previous time she visited Cincinnati.

Sorana Cirstea, 32, who is currently rated #38, has had a bad run recently. As has been the case for the most of her tournaments this season, she lost to Oksaka Selekhmetova in the first round of her most recent competition in Prague. Cirstea has had her moments, though, most notably in Lyon, Istanbul, and Birmingham, when she reached the semifinals. But credit where credit is due. On all three surfaces, the Romanian is undoubtedly tough and talented with late-stage runs. In addition to this, she also advanced to the round of 16 at the Australian Open and Indian Wells. However, despite having a 19-17 record, Sorana still struggles to be consistent.

Belinda Bencic and Sorana Cirstea are scheduled to face one another in the Opening round of the 2022 Cincinnati Open on Friday, August 15. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 14 till August 21.

The 2022 Cincinnati Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final for both men’s and women’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 14 and conclude on August 21 this year.
