Paula Badosa’s 2022 has not been up to her lofty standards by any stretch so far. The Spaniard could not display a good performance at Roland Garros, nor has she made any great bounds on grass so far this season. In Paris, Badosa had to withdraw in the third round against Veronika Kudermetova. Following that, she participated in the Eastbourne International where she was defeated in the first round by unseeded player Jodie Anna Burrage. Seeded fourth at the 2022 Wimbledon, the Spaniard will be desperate for a good string of results.
Her opponent, Louisa Chirico, had to make it through to the main draw of The Championships after a series of qualifying matches. The American beat the likes of Anna Siskova, Reka Luca Jani and Kathinka von Deichmann to make it through to the main draw. She does not have the weight of expectations on her shoulders but will be looking to make an impact nonetheless.
Badosa and Chirico are scheduled to face each other on Tuesday, June 28 in the first round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There are a number of exciting matches on the second day of the first round as the likes of Swiatek, Badosa, Williams, Gauff, Krejcikova and others will be in action.
