Dayeon Back and Na-Lae Han will face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 WTA Korea Open on September 19.
Han Na-Lae will soon begin her 12th Korean Open performance, which will be her eighth in the tournament’s main draw. The 30-year-old has won both of her WTA main draw matches on the basis of being a regular recipient of a wildcard at her home tournament, where she has competed since 2009. She once upset third-seeded Kristyna Pliskova in 2017 and defeated her countrywoman Jean Su-jeong in 2014. However, she has spent the vast bulk of her career competing on the ITF circuit. She advanced into about six semifinal-caliber finishes in 2022 and is getting close to a comeback inside the top 200.
Back Dayeon recently won her first professional title at a W15 competition in Yeongwol, her home country. This weekend, she had a flawless WTA debut in Seoul, defeating Daniela Vismane and Lina Glushko, two players ranked in the top 300, to secure a spot in the main event. The 20-year-old finished her junior career with a best finish of a J1 final in Cancun, Mexico, and a top ranking of 31 two and a half years ago. Since becoming a professional, she has maintained a flexible schedule, playing exclusively in Egypt, Tunisia, and Korea.
