The 2023 Australian Open final between Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas will feature a chance to win the Norman Brookes Trophy. Djokovic needs just one more triumph to tie Rafael Nadal’s Open Era record of 22 Grand Slam triumphs. The Serb recently demonstrated elite tennis, taking home titles at the Tel Aviv Open, Astana Open, ATP Finals in Turin, and Adelaide International 1 while winning 30 of 32 matches. He opened his return to the Australian Open by defeating Roberto Carballes Baena, and he continued to display his unbeatable form in the subsequent rounds. In Melbourne, the Serbian defeated competitors like Couacaud, Dimitrov, De Minaur, Rublev, and Paul to advance to his 10th Major final.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, on the other hand, has also had a strong start to the new 2023 season. After making it to the 2023 United Cup and Rolex Paris Masters semifinals, the Greek entered the Australian Open. In his last 11 contests, he has not lost. He easily won in straight sets against his opponents in the first three rounds. In order to advance to the championship match, he later displayed his tenacity by defeating competitors like Jannik Sinner, Jiri Lehecka, and Karen Khachanov. The third seed defeated the Russian Khachanov in four sets, winning 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-7(6), and 6-3 to advance to his first-ever final in Melbourne.

Head-to-Head

The head-to-head record between Djoker Nole and Tsitsipas is 10-2. The Serb most recently defeated the Greek in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6, in the 2022 Nitto ATP Finals. Tsitsipas might have defeated Djokovic the first time they faced each other at the Canadian Open in 2018, but the Greek has fallen short in the last nine matches against the youngest member of the big three. Given Djoker Nole’s form, it might very well become 10 straight wins for the Serb against Tsitsipas on Sunday.

Novak Djokovic form guide

The Serbian has won all of his matches in the first Grand Slam of 2023, propelling him to the final of the event. He is yet to lose a match in two tournaments as he won the Adelaide International before the Australian Open. It has been one of Djokovic’s best starts to a season as he has come back in Australia with a bang and will be looking to match Rafael Nadal as the most successful men’s Grand Slam player of the open era.

Stefanos Tsitsipas form guide

Despite having a poor record against Djokovic, there is reason for Tsitsipas to feel positive ahead of the Australian Open final. The Greek did not have the best of seasons in 2022 by his standards and winning the first Grand Slam of 2023 would be the perfect start to the new season. His last win came in the semis of the tournament against a spirited Karen Khachanov.
