Montpellier will play host to the 36th Open Sud de France from February 6–12, 2023. In a busy week of tennis, there are five tournaments happening on the ATP and WTA tours. The top two seeds in this tournament are Holger Rune and Jannik Sinner. Both have had successful starts to the new year, reaching the Australian Open’s fourth round and quarterfinals, respectively. Other notable competitors include Borna Coric and Roberto Bautista Agut, who are seeded third and fourth, respectively. The Spaniard is currently in pretty good form, placing second at the Adelaide International 2 and reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open. Coric, on the other hand, was defeated in the opening round of the first Grand Slam of the year.

The top four seeds won’t play until Wednesday because they received byes into the second round. Alexander Bublik, the reigning champion, is also present. He won his first ATP title here last year by defeating Alexander Zverev, and he’s hoping to do it again this year. Four-time Montpellier champion Richard Gasquet is also a contender. The Frenchman will be eager to win another trophy here and please the home crowd. Other notable names in the draw include Maxime Cressy, Aslan Karatsev, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Schedule and Dates

The 2023 ATP Montpellier Open will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifying rounds. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. The main draw of the tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 6 and conclude on Sunday February 12. Here is the round-wise schedule of the ATP 250 event.

Seeds

The top two seeds in the draw, Holger Rune and Jannik Sinner, both receive byes in the first round. The second round opponent for the former will probably be Marc-Andrea Huesler, while the opponent for the latter could be either Maxime Cressy or Arthur Rinderknech. In the first round, Alexander Bublik will face Gregoire Barrere to begin defending his championship.
