The 2023 ATP season will soon begin, as will the season’s first Grand Slam, which will be held in Australia and will feature a star-studded entry list as usual. The 2023 Australian Open will be held from January 16th to January 29th, with Rafael Nadal as the defending champion. The Spaniard will be joined on the entry list by his main rival, Novak Djokovic, who is undefeated at the event since 2019. But it won’t just be about the two Big Three members vying for Grand Slam titles.

Youngsters will also want to demonstrate their abilities, as the most recent major winner is world no. 1 in the ATP Rankings, Carlos Alcaraz, who will be looking to repeat his Flushing Meadows victory in Melbourne. The young Spaniard will not be the only one vying for the season’s first Grand Slam title. Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, and Alexander Zverev have all competed in Grand Slam finals and will want to use that experience in Australia.

Felix Auger-Aliassime and Holger Rune, who shone last season, will also be looking to make a deep run at the 2023 Australian Open. Another player who will want to make a deep run is home crowd favourite Nick Kyrgios, who is the defending doubles champion with Thanasi Kokkinakis and will compete in singles as well. Some big names are also missing from the lineup. Gael Monfils withdrew from the tournament in order to qualify for the protected ranking, and Dominic Thiem is now the seventh alternate. The winner of the 2020 US Open will be hoping for a few withdrawals in order to qualify for the main event.
