The WTA Tour has entered the grass season, with tournaments already taking place in Europe and England. Five of the top ten players, including French Open finalist Coco Gauff and 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, will compete in the bett1open in Berlin, Germany, next week. The German Open, already in its second year, is a WTA 500 tournament hosted on grass at the LTTC Rot-Weiss in Berlin. The Rothesay International in Eastbourne, England, is the second of two WTA 500 tournaments in the grass season. The finals will take place on June 19th.
World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, No. 2 Anett Kontaveit, and No. 3 Paula Badosa all withdrew prior to the draw. Naomi Osaka has since withdrawn from the tournament.
