He was dubbed “Mosquito” because of his speed and slender physical build. Ferrero announced his retirement from professional tennis after the 2012 Valencia Open.
He has since coached two-time Tour Finals champion and Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev, as well as US Open champion and world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz has multiple ATP Tour singles titles and won the 2022 US Open, his best Grand Slam singles performance.
Today, Juan Carlos Ferrero, the man who Nadal beat 17 years ago to begin his rise in tennis, is Carlos Alcaraz's coach.
