Cate Campbell has been a symbol of consistency for over a decade now. Her dominance in the major tournaments makes it hard for Cate’s rivals to compete with her. The freestyle specialist won multiple medals in her illustrious career, with the five Olympic medals being the standout of the lot. The Australian swimmer’s ability to overcome the pressure in challenging moments helps her win numerous accolades. With a career as inspirational as hers, Campbell continues to be a role model for budding swimmers.

Starting to swim from a young age, Cate had enormous potential, which was clearly visible during her early days in the sport. However, her major moment in the sport came in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She pulled off a miraculous run to reach the final of the 50m freestyle. Even though she had to settle for a Bronze, the dream Olympic run made her instantly popular in her country. She wrapped up the Beijing Games with another Bronze in the 4×100 m freestyle.

Campbell’s golden moment arrived four years later in London. She was part of the Australian team that won the Gold in the 4 × 100m freestyle relay at the 2012 Olympics. She did not win another medal in London, but Cate enjoyed a notable moment when she and her sister Bronte swam in the same 50m freestyle category. On the back of a positive Olympics, Campbell began to reach her maximum potential, which became evident in her World Championship performances.

She won the 100m freestyle in the 2013 World Championships and her next Gold came in the 4×100m freestyle category in the 2015 Championships. With impressive victories of late, Cate went into the 2016 Summer Games in scintillating form. She had to settle for a Silver as a member of the women’s 4 × 100m medley team. But there was no denying her a Gold in the 4 × 100m freestyle event. Notably, her sister Bronte was also part of the winning Australian team in that event.

Despite narrowly missing the medals in other categories, Cate’s exploits at the Rio Olympics drew a lot of praise across the globe. She continued her rich vein of form to break several other records. She won two more Gold medals in the 2019 World Championships in the 4×100 m freestyle and the 4×100m mixed medley events. Besides, she also has six Commonwealth Games Gold medals.

With the Tokyo Olympics fast approaching, Cate is in the form of her life. If the Australian swimmer can maintain her consistent run, not many athletes will be able to compete with her. At the top of the game, Campbell will be eager for another impressive Olympic showing. If her recent outings are taken into account, then Cate will undoubtedly be a leading medal hopeful in the upcoming Games.
