Hirving Lozano scored a brace as Napoli defeated Bologna 2-0 in the Serie A fixture at Stadio Dall’Ara on Monday. The Partenopei returned to action four days after losing to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia round of 16 fixture. Luciano spalletti’s side were without goalkeeper David Ospina and captain Lorenzo Insigne due to injuries while star striker Victor Osimhen returned to action. Meanwhile in the other match of the day, Fiorentina demolished Genoa 6-0 thanks to goals from Alvaro Odriozola, Glacomo Bonaventura, Dusan Vlahovic, Lucas Torreira and a double from Cristiano Biraghi.

Napoli started the match brightly as a brilliant overhead ball from Fabian Ruiz found the run of Lozano inside the box, but the Mexico international’s attempt was brilliantly kept out by Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski.

Napoli put their nose in front in the 20th minute. Elfi Elams went past Lorenzo Di Silverstri down the left flank before delivering the cut back for Lozano to slot home past Skorupski at the near post. Few moments later, Ruiz’ left-foot curler from outside the box rattled the bar.

Spalletti’s side doubled the lead just two minutes after the restart courtesy of a brilliantly worked breakaway move. Ruiz was released down the left flank and the Spanish playmaker cut the ball across for Lozano, who took one touch to beat Skorupski before slotting home into an empty net.

Napoli dominated the ball possession and pushed for a third. Osimhen was introduced in the second half wearing a protective mask less than two months after suffering a cheekbone fracture. Meanwhile Lozano’s attempt from the right side of the penalty area was punched away by Skorupski. At the other end, Mattias Savanberg’s late free-kick hit the crossbar.

The win helped Napoli to 46 points from 22 games, four points behind leaders Inter Milan while Bologna are languishing at the 13th spot with 27 points.

Fiorentina 6-0 Genoa

Fiorentina have been mightily impressive under new boss Vincenzo Italiano this season and they continued their strong form with a dominating win over Genoa at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Ordiozola opened the scoring inside the opening 15 minutes. The Viola doubled the lead in the 34th minute, when Giacomo Bonaventura scored a rebound after a decent save from Sirigu. Biraghi extended the lead through a brilliant free-kick in the 42nd minute.

After the break, Fiorentina didn’t take their foot off the pedal and made it 4-0 in the 51st minute through Vlahovic. Biraghi scored his second free-kick of the match in the 69th minute making the score 5-0. Torreira made it 6-0, 13 minutes from time to complete the drubbing.
