Juventus have agreed a 75 million euro deal with Fiorentina for highly-rated striker Dusan Vlahovic, Sky Italia reported on Tuesday. The deal would be the most expensive of the January transfer window so far, with Serie A’s joint -top scorer Vlahovic earning a reported 7 million euros per year. Fiorentina want to sell the 21-year-old Serbian, who is keen to make a move to Turin, this month to maximise their profit, as he has just 18 months remaining on his contract. Arsenal and Tottenham were also interested in the striker but were unable to meet the asking wages.

Vlahovic is perhaps the biggest attacking name available on the market this month. He has scored 17 Serie A goals this season, after registering 21 efforts in the Italian top flight during the 2021-22 season, and has been attracting interests from top European clubs.

Fiorentina’s sporting director, Daniele Prade, told Sportitalia: “It’s an important valuation, over €70m as a lump sum with no swap deals and no payment structures. The president [Rocco Commisso] has imposed it on us.

“All of our doors are open in this situation, because we need to understand what the players and his agents really want to do.

“We received some important offers for him. Offers that were very substantial but we never got any feedback from his agents. On our side, there has always been great transparency. I refer to what Joe Barone [Fiorentina’s chief executive] said, all our doors are open.

“We’re ready to sit down at a table and talk. We made various important offers for a contract extension, and we also have had a few offers to sell him in a strong way.

“I’m saying this because our club makes €75m a year and we can’t afford to lose a valuable asset for free.

“They were all valid and satisfactory offers, with payment methods that suited us. We couldn’t go ahead with the deal because there was never any contact with the player’s agents.”

Arthur Cabral to replace Vlahovic at Fiorentina

Fiorntina want to sign Basel forward Arthur Cabral to replace Vlahovic and have submitted an opening bid of 14 million euro. According to Sportitalia, The initial €10m bid was rejected, but a deal should be done for €14-15m including performance-related bonuses.

Cabral’s current contract with FC Basel runs until June 2023. The 23-year-old Brazilian made the move from Palmeiras in 2019, initially on loan and then on a permanent basis for a total 7 million euro fee. He has scored an impressive 27 goals in 31 competitive games for Basel so far this season, including five in six Europa Conference League matches.
