SAI felicitates National-Level athletes for their recent achievements

The occasion also honored more national campers who are receiving training at SAI Bengaluru for their recent accomplishments.

The athletes from the Sports Authority of India’s National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) were honored on Tuesday for their medal-winning efforts in recent national-level athletics tournaments. The “Recent Significant Achievers” event recognized medal-winning performances from the just-completed Indian Grand Prix 1 to 4 held in Trivandrum and Bengaluru, the Race Walking Championships, and Jump Competitions, in addition to other national-level athletics competitions.

The evening started with awards given to top athletes who had been attending the NCOE in Bangalore for training. The medal winners included athletes from NCOE Bangalore and athletes from the National Coaching Camp at SAI Bangalore. Priyanka Goswami, Akshdeep Singh, Vikas Singh, and Paramjeet Singh Bisht, who recently qualified for the World Championships in Budapest and the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, were honored at the occasion. Akshdeep Singh established a new national men’s 20km race walk record this year at the National Open Race Walking Championships which took place in Ranchi. The 19-year-old Shaili Singh who recently achieved a second-best Indian long jump mark of 6.76 meters at the Indian Grand Prix 4 in Bengaluru, was also felicitated.

Who felicitated the athletes?

Along with other, sporting figures, Anju Bobby George, the vice president of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), and Tokyo Olympics medalist Rupinder Pal Singh presented awards to the participants at the SAI NCOE, Bengaluru. The athletes were also presented by Aparna Ghosh, a basketball player who won the Dhyan Chand Award, and Divya Singh, the retired basketball player, and high-performance manager at the Sports Authority of India. Athletes who earned a spot in the Asian Games were among the other NCOE athletes who were honored. Among the athletes honored were Eldhose Paul, who won the gold medal in the triple jump at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Manju Rani for the 35-kilometer race walk, Munita Prajapati, and Hardeep, who both competed in the 20-kilometer race walk.

They were Rakshitha Raju, Keshavmurthy, Sharath, Neeraj Yadav, Navdeep Singh, Meet Tadhani, Jinson Johnson, Ram Baboo, Mansi Negi, Muhammed Yahiya Anees, Ancy Sojan, Abhishek Pal, Chanda, Ankesh Chaudhary, Balkishan, Komal Chandraka Jagadale, Krishan Kumar, Gulveer Singh, Shekar Kumar Pandey, Ankita, Vijayakumari, Priyanka C, and Rashi C M.
